Raipur police’s focused strategy leads to 3% dip in crime; Nijaat Campaign sets example
SSP Dr Santosh Kumar Singh credits Nijaat Campaign for crackdown on drugs and reduced crime rates in Raipur.
The Raipur police have recorded a 3% reduction in crime cases under IPC and Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) this year, with 7,970 cases registered from February to November, compared to 8,224 during the same period last year. The data reflects an ongoing focus on visible policing, strict action against offenders, and anti-drug operations, under the directives of IGP Raipur Amresh Mishra and SSP Santosh Singh.
While crimes like theft (down by 9%), assault (down by 3%), molestation/sexual violence (down by 28%), and rape (down by 8%) have seen a decline, other categories show contrasting trends. Incidents of murder rose by 7%, from 54 last year to 58 this year, and stabbing cases have significantly dropped by 40%, with 102 reported cases this year compared to 171 last year.

Raipur police attribute these trends to intensified anti-drug drives under the Nijaat Abhiyan, which has led to an increase in cases registered under NDPS and excise laws. The enhanced visibility of police patrols and strict monitoring of criminal hotspots have also contributed to a general decline in major crime categories.
“We are optimistic about sustaining this momentum and are committed to reinforcing community policing and expanding preventive measures in the coming months,” stated Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Santosh Kumar Singh, while emphasising the success of the Nijaat Campaign in tackling the drug menace and boosting public safety.
